More Fox News Hypocrisy (Surprise!)

Fox News is at it again, blowing things way out of proportion as they pander to their readers and spread more hate.

I want to point out two astounding things that I saw on the Fox News site this morning as I was drinking my coffee and getting ready for the day. For anybody who reads the site regularly, this will come as no surprise to you. Fox is well known for their hypocrisy and far-right stance. But for anybody who may not be as familiar with the site, let me walk you through these little gems that they have going today.

We are going to start first with this gem. This is an article about a Democrat who is running for Congress in Georgia. More specifically, about how this Democrat, Steven Lamar Foster, was recently arrested for DUI charges but plans on continuing his campaign from prison. It’s a ridiculous story for sure, and I could understand why it would be buried down in their page just to show something silly going on in our nation.

For anybody who reads the site regularly, this will come as no surprise to you. Fox is well known for their hypocrisy and far-right stance.

But, wait! It’s not buried down in their site. It’s front page material for Fox News. Even though nobody has ever heard of this guy. Even though pretty much every Democrat would say that he should drop out of the race. Even though it’s a ridiculous non-story that nobody outside of Georgia cares about, it’s still top of the page news for them.

Why is that, do you think?

Is it because they are concerned for the people of Georgia? Is it because they think that a candidate running for office from prison is a giant scandal? Could it possibly be that they think he might still win from prison?

I’ll save you the trouble. The answer to all of those questions is no. A hard no.

Mr. Foster didn’t stand a chance of winning even before he was arrested. He is not a major player in the Democratic party. However, since he’s running as a Democrat and has done something foolish that could make other Democrats look bad, that alone makes him headline news for Fox. They are blowing this way out of proportion simply to inspire their base to dislike Democrats a little bit more. It’s absurd.

But that’s not even the most ridiculous thing on their page this morning. No, we get a full dose of Fox News hypocrisy this morning. Lucky us…

So, Fox News led today with a story about Obama campaigning in California for several candidates. One of these candidates, philanthropist Gil Cisneros, has been accused of sexual misconduct. Before we continue, though, let’s go over what he is accused of.

Both allegations come from Democratic activist and documentary filmmaker Melissa Fazli, who recently ran for office as well. According to her, she was in an elevator with Cisneros and he appeared drunk and asked her if she wanted to go back to her room. A second allegation against him by the same woman states that they were talking on the phone about donations when he asked her “What are you going to do for me?” in a “suggestive” tone.

No, we get a full dose of Fox News hypocrisy this morning.

Both things are inappropriate for sure. If they are working together in a professional atmosphere than she shouldn’t have to worry about some guy with power hitting on her. It’s not cool, and he should absolutely knock that shit off.

Here’s the thing, though. Sexual misconduct is not a flat plane. It’s a rising scale, right? I mean, asking a girl if you can go back to her room is not the same as saying something like, oh, I don’t know, “I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything… Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.”

Making an inappropriate quid pro quo suggestion to a woman you’re working with is absolutely not okay, and there should certainly be consequences for that action. But, you know, maybe not the same level of punishment as a man who was accused by at least sixteen women of sexual assault, ranging from simple touching to forcing himself on them and grabbing spots that we all know we aren’t supposed to grab.

Grabe em by the...
In case anybody needs to be reminded of what our president once said about women.

That’s what makes Fox News such hypocrites on this. Because they still side with Trump that he did nothing wrong, even though sixteen women have brought accusations against him. But this Democrat, who has one woman accusing him of a fraction of what Trump did, gets a spot at the very top of their page and put on blast.

I assure you that, should these accusations against Cisneros turn out to be true, all the “liberal media” sites will call for his resignation (remember Al Franken?), and I’ll be right there with them. But the sheer nerve of Fox News to accuse anybody of sexual assault while they defend and propagandize the current president is simply disgusting.

It’s long been known that Fox News lack any sort of backbone or moral fiber. They don’t report the news; they spread fear and hate and misinformation. These are yet more examples of their hypocrisy, and while it’s nothing new, it still needs to be called out for what it is.

Bullshit tactics by a bullshit organization.
