Trump’s New Favorite Curse Word

I had a friend once who had a child who was, well… a bit of a bad kid, to put it nicely. Another way to say it is that the kid was a complete asshole.

Put your rage down, you know exactly the type of kid I’m talking about.

The type of kid that you see in Wal-Mart screaming his head off. The type of kid you see wearing a Spiderman outfit with a tutu over it at the doctor’s office because he decided that’s what he wanted to wear that day and his mother lacked the constitution to be the boss. Don’t get me wrong, here. I’m all for kids being creative and using their imagination, but I’m also a big fan of children doing as they are told and respecting their parents. This kid was just terrible, and there was no getting around that fact.

One of his favorite things to do was say curse-words. All the time. His mother would get onto him and he would just laugh and say it more. When I was around, he was stuck on the word “Shit.” He would say it at every opportunity, and the madder he got the more he would say it.

“Hey, kid, get off the back of the couch!”

“Shit no!”

“Don’t say that.”

“Shit, shit, shit, shit. Hehehehehehe…”

All. The. Time.

I’m sure you all have a picture perfect example in your own mind at this point of a child that you yourself have met, or just seen out in the wild, who acts like this. No discipline and no sense of how to behave in a civilized society.

Which brings me to the child we currently have acting as President of the United States, and his new favorite curse-word: TARIFFS!

Much like the child of my friend, Trump has found his new favorite bad word and uses it every chance he gets. Also like the child, he doesn’t really seem to know what it means. He only knows that when he says it out loud a lot of people react to it so he just keeps on saying it.

It’s become his newest go-to anytime something isn’t going his way. China still sells more goods to us than we sell to them – TARIFFS! Canada resists parts of a trade deal – TARIFFS! The EU has the audacity to make cars – TARIFFS! He realizes that solar panels are a thing – TARIFFS! Desperate human beings continue to try and make a better life for themselves – TARIFFS!!!!

“Tariffs, tariffs, tariffs, tariffs. Hehehehehehe…”

Much like the child of my friend, Trump has found his new favorite bad word and uses it every chance he gets. Also like the child, he doesn’t really seem to know what it means. He only knows that when he says it out loud a lot of people react to it so he just keeps on saying it.

It’s become his knee-jerk response to anything his brain is unable to fully comprehend and work out a solution to. So, basically, everything. This is evidenced by the new threatened tariff against Mexico because people are still trying to cross the border from there into the United States. For anybody with the capacity for abstract thought, it’s impossible not to immediately see this as a stupid fucking idea.

You want to impose a tariff on an already poor country, which would make it harder for them to control emigration, while also putting an even greater burden on United States citizens than you already have with your China tariffs. Yeah, that sure sounds like a straight up path to success…

I’d also like to point out that tariffs are, basically, taxes, and Trump has now raised taxes in the United States more than anybody else in decades. Just throwing that out there.

So, the child president is once again showing how completely unqualified he is to be running a country. This impetuous and damaging reaction to anything that displeases him is going to have severe negative impacts on US citizens and our economy for decades. You can’t simply disrupt a system as large as the US trade network and expect everything to just sort itself out. Already there’s been tens of thousands of jobs lost in the renewable energy field. Farmers are now having to be bailed out by the government because of the China trade war. This entire tariff business is going incredibly poorly for the average US citizen, yet Trump continues to throw out his new favorite swear-word at every turn because… wait for it… HE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT ANYBODY BUT HIMSELF!

A child saying “shit” all the time is annoying. A president saying “tariffs” all the time is terrifying.

Yet his base and the cowardly Republicans in congress simply look the other way and continue to lie to themselves and say that everything is fine. Well, my right-wing friends, everything is not fine and it’s time to find a touch of courage and stand up for what is right for the country instead of yourself. Stop letting this stupid man do stupid things that are only hurting our country. This tariff nonsense needs to end before it’s too late.
